Ceredigion regional and international marketing initiatives
Ceredigion is a partner in the Celtic Routes Ireland Wales Interreg marketing initiative. Other Wales partners are Carmarathenshire County Council and Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Irish partners are the counties of Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow.
The Celtic Routes project aims to encourage visitors to explore new areas of Wales and Ireland en route to their final tourist destination. This will be achieved through a marketing programme to raise awareness and increase the visitor appeal of the targeted areas which share several similar aspects of history, mythology and landscape.
The project aims to transform less well known areas from transit zones to new touring sites, increasing the time visitors spend in these regions and capitalising on the opportunities to boost local economies.
The project is developing new trails linking local culture, heritage and the natural environments. The project is being developed through thorough customer research and engagement with a range of stakeholders. Networks will be developed with opportunities, through trade events and workshops as well as cross border visits by businesses in Ireland and Wales to bring together expertise and ideas.
Complementing the Celtic Routes project is the Wales Way initiative, which links the coastal counties along the west coast of Wales. Ceredigion partners with Gwynedd and Pembrokeshire County Councils to promote the Coastal Way between St David's and Aberdaron on the Llyn peninsula.

Marketing Ceredigion as a destination - get involved
Destination marketing is about providing attractive and convincing reasons for people to choose to visit a destination. It focuses on visitors, aiming to understand their needs and expectations and making it easy for them to understand what the destination has to offer by identifying the destination's key products and strengths to promote to them.
Ceredigion County Council and its Destination Management and Marketing partners are actively engaged in promoting Ceredigion across a range of platforms, working together to raise the profile of the destination and the visitor's understanding of what it has to offer.
According to tourism experts at the Aberystwyth University Business School:
"Destination marketing success [is] dependent on a collective effort with destination organisations and businesses harmoniously working together to achieve a common goal" (Encyclopedia of Sustainable Tourism, CABI 2014. Editors Cater, C Garrod, B and Low,T)
How can businesses and communities help to achieve the destination management and marketing goals for Ceredigion and benefit from joint, co-ordinated effort?
Tourist Information Centres
Make the most of your local Tourist Information Centre. Call in for reference copies of local attraction, events and activities leaflets, guidebooks and maps for sale as well as local art and craft.

Joint marketing initiatives
The Ceredigion Destination Management Partnership aims to work with a range of businesses, voluntary and community representatives as well as government agencies. If you are a group of businesses with an idea which could enhance and add value to the Ceredigion and Wales tourism offer, why not share your ideas at an early stage so that appropriate support and promotional opportunities can be identified.
