Walk Tanybwlch beach south of Aberystwyth

Tanybwlch is the shingle shore south of Aberystwyth harbour, beside the mouth of the Ystwyth and below Pen Dinas. It is a rewarding place for a coastal walk and views, with uneven pebbles underfoot. Keep the beach walk distinct from a climb onto the hill: the terrain and effort involved are different.

Climb into the past

Pen Dinas preserves the earthworks of an Iron Age hillfort. Its much later Wellington monument forms a familiar landmark, while the summit gives views inland along the Ystwyth and Rheidol valleys.
