Darllen yn GymraegExplore the Teifi Valley's textile heritage
Wool production connected the farms and communities of Ceredigion with cottage industries, riverside mills and wider markets. The Teifi Valley and Talybont preserve different parts of this story. Some associated attractions, including the National Wool Museum at Dre-fach Felindre, lie outside Ceredigion but make relevant visits in the wider valley.
Discover the mill communities
Talybont's mills served the lead-mining districts, while Teifi Valley manufacturers supplied the South Wales coalfield. Rock Mill near Llandysul and the National Wool Museum at Dre-fach Felindre offer starting points for exploring this heritage. Check individual venues for visiting arrangements.
Beyond the loom
Water also powered grain mills. Look for the relationship between streams, mill buildings and village life at places such as Llanrhystud and St Dogmaels.
