Follow the Rheidol from mountains to Aberystwyth

The Rheidol descends from the Pumlumon area towards Aberystwyth through a landscape of upland water, wooded slopes and hydroelectric infrastructure. Its valley connects with the Mynach gorge at Devil's Bridge and with the Vale of Rheidol Railway. Choose a particular journey or walk to appreciate the changes in scenery rather than treating the valley as a single stop.

Bridges, railways and mining traces

Devil's Bridge and the Mynach waterfalls provide a dramatic focus inland. The Vale of Rheidol Railway links this landscape with Aberystwyth, while old mine sites around the valley recall earlier extraction and transport.

Choose your way to explore

Walking and cycling offer different perspectives on the valley. Check current railway services, trail access and attraction arrangements, particularly when combining several places in a single day.
